corresponds to residues 63-75 of connexin 43, a gap junction-blocking transmembrane protein. GAP26 attenuates the rhythmic contractile activity of rabbit arterial smooth muscle. The peptide also inhibits IP3-induced ATP release without inhibiting gap junctional coupling in endothelial cells.
