Vaccine development

Immunogenic epitope sequences need to be identified. This is why peptide libraries are used for vaccine development. They allow the peptide sequences of an antigen to be screened in order to better understand its immunogenic character. For example, you might be interested in our SARS-CoV-2 peptide libraries.

By this application, peptide libraries provide an effective solution. Moreover, vaccines based on synthetic peptides are often very effective and less expensive than traditional vaccines.

Peptide libraries are ideal for their discovery. They allow the exploration of the antigen from end to end through designs such as truncated or overlapping libraries. Peptide libraries also make it possible to overcome the 3D conformation of the antigen. This conformation can sometimes be detrimental to its detection and which does not bring immunogenicity to the epitopes.

Recommended settings

Overlapping or Alanine Scanning Libraries are commonly used.
– Peptide purity is often recommended for vaccine development, quality control must also be rigorous and on 100% of the peptides synthesized.
– Depending on the state of research, different levels of purity are required. To test immunogenicity it is not imperative to purify the peptides. However, for immunity monitoring and vaccine therapy development, purity levels of >80% are required.
