From 2 to > 120 Amino Acids
sb-PEPTIDE has the expertise to synthesize any kind of peptides from 2 to +100 amino acids.
In peptide synthesis, the general rule is that the longer a peptide is the harder it is to synthesize. Classically, peptides below 20 amino acids are considered easy and above 50 amino acids very challenging even if there are special cases. Other parameters also impact the difficulty to produce a peptide such as its hydrophobicity, its charges… As every peptides are differents, their production needs specific and flexible procedures to reach the success in any situations.
sb-PEPTIDE has invested and gained a lot of experience during many years in producing and analyzing complex peptides (highly hydrophobic with Gravy >3, highly hydrophilic, long sequences, cyclized peptides, complex conjugations…). This results in the development a proprietary in-silico predictive tool which, associated to a panel of production procedures, allows to immediately handle production in adapted conditions.
Up to 99% purity rate
Peptides are chemically synthesized by the sequential addition of amino acids from the C-terminus to the N-terminus. The yield of amino acid coupling is not 100%, so the final peptide will be obtained with numerous truncated versions, representing a significant portion of the impurities. Another source of impurities is represented by partially-deprotected amino acids or side reactions (oxidation, deamidation…).
Basically, the more a sequence is long, the more the final peptide will contain impurities as well as various other parameters.
Routinely, a normal 10 amino acid peptide gives a purity of 70% at the synthesis. Then, to obtain a greater purity rate, purification procedures will be required. The more the expected purity is high, the more the synthesis scale will have to be important, which explains the differences between prices.
The purity rate is routinely determined by analytical HPLC which gives a very accurate information on the quality of the peptide. sb-PEPTIDE offers various purity rates:
- Desalted: not purified peptides but synthesis reagents are removed. Purity and mass are controlled
- >80%: peptides are purified and the minimal purity guaranteed is 80%
- >90%: peptides are purified and the minimal purity guaranteed is 90%
- >95%: peptides are purified and the minimal purity guaranteed is 95%
- Ultra-pure peptides: sb-PEPTIDE can supply peptides with a purity rate >99% determined on an ultra high resolutive analytical systems. This approach ensures a ultra high accurate peptide purity.

From mg to g quantities
sb-PEPTIDE offers laboratory research peptide synthesis scale, from milligram up to several grams in routine.
Quantification is a major quality control and weakly known by peptide users. There are 2 ways to announce a peptide quantity: growth weight or net.
During the peptide synthesis process, peptides are in contact with TFA (trifluoroacetic acid) which forms salts and can rapidly take an important part of the final gross weight (20% in average). Atmospheric water also increases the gross weight of the peptide. By consequent, gross weight amount can be significantly different from the peptide amount present in the sample.
sb-PEPTIDE considers that the given quantity must be the one of the peptide material present in a sample. The company employs quantification methods (included with each individual peptide) allowing to obtain a precise estimation of the peptide material amount rather than a gross weight. We do not sell salts, we sell peptides!
Peptides are routinely delivered in 2mL polypropylene tubes as dried powder. Other format are available upon request (solution, glass vial, plate, sample pre-mixing, client’s tubes, client’s labels…)
Solubility test included
|sb-PEPTIDE tests the solubility of delivered peptides and describes recommended conditions in each certificate of analysis. This service is included in the price. Tested conditions are water and/or basic solution and/or acid solution and/or acetonitrile. Customized conditions are available.|
Peptide TFA removal/switch
Primary amines of peptides become protonated during resin cleavage (acidic condition) ans form a salt with TFA (TF-Acetate salt or counter-ion). TFA salts can be toxic for cells and therefore hinder experimental outcomes. sb-PEPTIDE offers a TFA salt removal service for in vivo ansd cell-based assays. TFA salts are removed and replaced by Acetate salts, less acid, using a proprietary salt-exchange protocol. Resulting peptides are more compatible with biological applications.
