Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline®) is the most widely used cosmetic peptide globally. It competitively inhibits SNARE complex assembly by mimicking the N-terminal sequence of SNAP-25, reducing neurotransmitter vesicle docking and acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. The result is a measurable relaxation of facial expression muscles and visible smoothing of dynamic wrinkles, without injection.

Main characteristics

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8's mechanism mirrors the first step of botulinum toxin action but acts topically and reversibly, with no systemic effects. It is stable across a wide pH range (4–7) and compatible with most cosmetic formulations. The acetyl group protects the peptide from enzymatic degradation, extending its activity in situ. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity (HPLC + MS).
