TGF-β mimetic signal peptide for hair loss prevention and dermal papilla renewal

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 (Capixyl®/Folixyl®) contains the GHK motif derived from the SPARC protein sequence (residues 137-140). Acting as a TGF-β mimetic, it stimulates synthesis of follicle-supporting ECM proteins (Collagen I, III, and Laminin), renews dermal papilla cell viability, and reduces follicular sheath stiffening, the primary structural cause of androgenetic hair loss. Clinical trials report significant improvement in hair density comparable to minoxidil without side effects. Also used in periorbital treatments for eyelash growth.

Main characteristics

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 targets the root cause of androgenetic alopecia at the follicular ECM level rather than through systemic hormonal pathways. It reinforces the structural environment of the dermal papilla, enabling follicles to sustain the anagen (active growth) phase. Stable in aqueous solution at pH 4.5–7.5 and compatible with scalp serum bases. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity (HPLC + MS).
