Acetyl Hexapeptide-37 is a signal hexapeptide that upregulates Aquaporin-3 (AQP3) expression in keratinocytes, the transmembrane protein channel responsible for water and glycerol transport across cell membranes. By enhancing AQP3 activity, this peptide improves the skin's intrinsic hydration capacity and strengthens the epidermal barrier function. It is particularly suited to dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skin formulations, as well as post-procedure repair products requiring accelerated barrier restoration.

Main characteristics

Acetyl Hexapeptide-37 acts upstream of the aquaporin channel, modulating gene expression rather than simply humectant attraction of water. This mechanism provides a more sustained hydration effect compared to classical humectants. Stable in aqueous formulations at pH 5.0–7.5. Compatible with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and barrier lipid systems. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity confirmed by HPLC and MS.
