Signal peptide targeting Syndecan-1 and Collagen XVII for epidermal cohesion and firmness in mature skin

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-11 (Syniorage®) simultaneously upregulates Syndecan-1, a transmembrane proteoglycan governing intercellular keratinocyte adhesion and Collagen XVII, a structural component of hemidesmosomes anchoring the epidermis to the basement membrane. By reinforcing both lateral connections between keratinocytes and vertical connections to the dermis, it counteracts the progressive skin slackening characteristic of menopausal and mature skin. Particularly suited for anti-aging formulations targeting structural skin support.

Main characteristics

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-11 addresses the mechanical weakening of the skin structure at two complementary levels: within the epidermis (Syndecan-1) and at the dermo-epidermal junction (Collagen XVII). This dual action makes it uniquely effective for mature skin where both lateral and vertical cohesion are compromised. Stable in aqueous formulations at pH 4.5–7.5. Produced via SPPS to ≥95% purity (HPLC + MS).
