Oligopeptide-10 is a cationic antimicrobial peptide (AMP) that disrupts bacterial cell membranes through electrostatic interactions with the anionic phospholipid bilayers of gram-positive bacteria. Its amphipathic α-helical structure inserts into bacterial membranes causing rapid cell lysis, with selective efficacy against Cutibacterium acnes (formerly P. acnes) without inducing antibiotic resistance. This mechanism makes it a sustainable alternative to conventional antimicrobials in acne-targeting cosmetics.

Oligopeptide-10 represents the growing category of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) in cosmetics, a category driven by increasing antibiotic resistance concerns and demand for microbiome formulations.
